Fan engagement ideas for kabaddi and cricket leagues

Eight fan engagement ideas for kabaddi and cricket leagues, from match-day reveals to contests that turn viewers into regulars.

A fan is someone who comes back. Engagement is the set of reasons to come back between and during matches. These eight ideas come from our work with cricket and kabaddi teams, including Delhi Capitals, Yamuna Yodhas and Ganga Kings of Mirzapur.

  1. Match-day posters with a story. A fixture post that looks different from the last one, for example themed on the host city, is something fans share. Our Delhi Capitals match-day posters change setting for each ground.
  2. Player stat cards. Turn a standout number (most super tackles, most raid points, a fastest fifty) into a clean, shareable card. Fans love numbers they can quote. We made these for kabaddi players such as Lakshay Chaudhary and Anil Nauwhar.
  3. Staged reveals. Reveal the squad, the jersey or the host cities in steps, so each is its own moment. Our korfball launch used a “guess the cities” post and a jersey reveal.
  4. Fan features. Put real fans on screen: a fan-zone video, a face in the stands, a family at the gate. We shot DC Toli fan features for Delhi Capitals.
  5. Contests and predictions. A simple “who wins” poll or a lineup guess brings people back to check the result.
  6. Behind the scenes. The team bus, the dressing room, the warm-up. Fans like to feel close.
  7. On-ground branding that photographs well. A gate, an arena entrance, a selfie wall. If people photograph it, they post it.
  8. Season recap and thank-you. End the season with a film, so fans keep the story and sponsors see the reach.

Make it work all season

  • Plan templates before the season so live posts go out within minutes.
  • Keep a consistent look, so fans recognise a post before they read it.
  • Do not go silent between matches: use features, throwbacks and previews.
  • Build sponsors into the content, not only on the edge of the post.
